The splendid castle of the Counts of Marchin, located on a rocky outcrop 57 m above the Hoyoux, dates back to the 17th century and is surrounded by a nature reserve. At the castle of Modave (owned by Vivaqua) there is a significant water collection system, intended to partially supply the Brussels agglomeration with drinking water. The Saint-Martin church (13th and 14th century) houses the mausoleum of the Count of Marchin and his wife, with their effigies in high relief made of white marble on a black marble base, the work of Lucas Fayd’herbe. At the place called Pont de Bonne, the limestone plateau of the 'Old Castle' (oppidum) is currently occupied by a meadow. Excavations have shown us that this site was already inhabited in the Neolithic period.
