Uitbergen is a village in the municipality of Berlare, in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The total area is 6.48 km². At the time of the merger with Berlare in 1977, there were 1,605 inhabitants. The Donkmeer is partly located in Uitbergen.Uitbergen is one of the oldest villages in the land of Dendermonde. It cannot yet be found on a map of the year 879 made under the reign of Baldwin with the Iron Arm and his wife Judith. But a charter of Emperor Lothair, dated 966 and appearing in the Cartulary of St. Bavo's Abbey, mentions it under the name Villa Bergina, as part of the abbey's possessions.
