Rance is a village in the Belgian province of Hainaut, and a district of the Walloon municipality of Sivry-Rance. Rance was an independent municipality until it was merged into the municipality of Sivry-Rance during the municipal reorganization of 1977.
Rance was once famous worldwide for the red marble that was mined there. The Rance marble was, for example, used for the columns in the hall of mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Nowadays, there is no more mining.
