The village of Haltinne is to be found in a selected corner of the Namur Condroz, approximately 5 km south of Andenne and on the heights overlooking the beautiful Samson valley. It was already mentioned in 747 as Haltna - which would mean 'small hall' - in the archives of the abbey of Stavelot-Malmedy. From the 11th to the 13th century, as many as five fiefs existed in present-day Haltinne, the site where the church and the castle are located today. Haltinne once had an interesting industry in iron, coal, clay, and limestone. Nowadays, the inhabitants primarily rely on forestry and agriculture.
