Rollegem-Kapelle is a village in the municipality of Ledegem, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. Rollegem-Kapelle is located just northeast of Ledegem center, it was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977.In 1213, Hendrik van Moorslede donated a piece of land to Willem van Rollegem, to erect a chapel, a cemetery, and a house for the chaplain. This is also the origin of the place name. Over the centuries, this chapel was enlarged several times, until it was demolished in 1909 and the current church was built. Meanwhile, in 1790, during the French period, Rollegem-Kapelle had become an independent municipality. The village also became an independent parish in 1801, splitting off from that of Moorsele.
