Meigem is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and a part of the municipality of Deinze. The residential village is located by the Schipdonk Canal, just south of the Poekebeek. Meigem was first mentioned at the end of the 9th century as Meingem, a combination of a personal name and -heim. In the feudal era, Meigem belonged to the Land of Nevele, an extensive lordship.
