You just entered Ename. It is ostensibly a village like many others, but you will soon notice that there are few places that have followed such a fascinating historical route in the last thousand years. Ename that is: the Provincial Archaeological Museum, the St. Lawrence Church, the Bos t' Ename and the archaeological site of the St. Salvator Abbey.
We are at the entrance to the archaeological site where you can visit the remains of the Benedictine abbey. The abbey stood here from the 11th to the 18th century. By using computer technology you get a view of the early medieval castle, the trading settlement and the abbey.
At the site determines the Provincial Heritage Centre (PEC) where you can go to experience the East Flemish Heritage. Every year there are temporary exhibitions and you can take a look behind the scenes of the heritage depot.
