Site of the abbey/Archaeological Park Ename

You enter Ename. At first glance, it is a village like many others, but you will quickly notice that few places have had such an exciting historical journey over the past thousand years. Ename offers: the Provincial Museum of Archaeology, St. Laurentius Church, the nature reserve of Bos t'Ename, and the archaeological site of St. Salvator Abbey. You are at the entrance to the archaeological site, where you can visit the remains of the Benedictine abbey. The abbey was established here from the 11th to the 18th century. Thanks to the use of computers, you can get a glimpse of the medieval fortress, the halls, and the abbey. The Provinciaal Erfgoedcentrum (PEC) (Provincial Heritage Center) is adjacent to the site. You can go there to discover the heritage of East Flanders. Temporary exhibitions are held there every year, and you can also have a look behind the scenes, where some elements of the heritage are stored.
