The one on the coast at the end of the 19th century also caused a greater need for drinkable water. The local authorities had a 9-metre-deep pit dug in which they had a concrete cistern installed, which would be filled with 500 m³ of water. But that never happened. Due to the groundwater in this swampy soil, the cistern, weighing 213 tons, tilted diagonally upwards, and since then a large part has been protruding from the ground.
The Dronkenput (the drunken fountain) owes its name to the fact that the visitor always wants to keep parallel to the numerous sloping pillars (12°) in the large room and to the water level, which is of course constantly flat, which makes him feel like he is losing his balance.
