At the first cross street, you will certainly be struck by the exuberantly decorated art nouveau houses on the left across the street. The surprise is complete when you notice that the entire street facade of the Vanderschrickstraat, without a single exception, has been preserved in this style. In just two years, Ernest Blérot built no fewer than 17 houses. Although he worked with the same basic elements, the variation is enormous. Turn left into the street so that you can admire the opposite side perfectly from the left sidewalk. Blérot's greatest asset was his wrought iron work, but the stained glass windows and sgraffito are also gems. The row ends with the café-restaurant La Porteuse d’Eau.
