Description

The Distillery Van Damme is a household name in East Flanders. Here they still burn gin according to the original traditional methods from 1862. Firing is a typical winter activity and occurs from December to April. The Balegem distillery is the only agricultural gin distillery in the Benelux that grows the grain for its spirit-rich drink, which is why 'Balegem jenever' enjoys geographical name protection. The last Sunday of August the Distillery Festivals take place here, a party with old crafts, cattle shows, horse pulling competitions and concerts.
