Stedelijk Museum Lokeren

Reopening in 2009
The Stedelijk Museum of Lokeren houses an extensive collection of household goods, furniture and utensils, supplemented by historical costumes and a selection of paintings by mainly Loker artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. Separate rooms are dedicated to the rural Flemish cuisine, religious art and popular culture, the local textile industry, the local printing industry, the riflemen's guilds. Also noteworthy are the rich collection of Gallo-Roman archeologics and Egyptian objects, and the fine collection of historical pottery. On the upper floor there is attention for the Lokerse hair cutting factories or sheet processing companies and one finds the reconstruction of a bakery and a butcher's shop from the middle of the 20th century. Temporary exhibitions take place every year. Guided tours are possible on request
