Description

The famous Ros Beiaard and the Dendermonde Guild Giants have been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. On the Grote Markt, the town hall with Belfry and Cloth Hall and the Vleeshuis bear witness to the medieval grandeur of Dendermonde. From the market it is a stone's throw to the Church of Our Lady, the Benedictine Abbey of St. Peter and Paul, the St. Alexius Beguinage (since 1288) and the site of the listed lock on the Oude Dender. The Belfry with the Cloth Hall and the St. Alexius Beguinage have also been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
