The focal point of the EU has been in Germany since May 1, 2004, when the EU expanded from 15 to 25 member states. It was therefore here in Belgium for nearly a decade. But since 2004, it has been on German soil. When Croatia joined the EU in July 2013, the center became the Bavarian village of Westerngrund, approximately 60 km northwest of Gadheim. After Brexit, it became Gadheim.
