The bushes Gelderse rose and Domestic bird cherry that are here are indigenous seed trees and shrubs. 'Indigenous' means that these plants are genetically from 'here'. Contrary to what you might expect, this is not a given. Many trees and shrubs sold in commerce originate from seeds from abroad. These foreign plants can differ somewhat in 'biorhythm,' and that is sometimes unfavorable. For example, it is important that plants flower at the time when, for instance, the pollinators are active.
In Flanders and therefore also in Limburg, the locations of indigenous plants have been identified. In Lozerheide, 30 are of poplar were felled for the establishment of a seed garden of indigenous shrubs. At these various locations in Flanders as well as in the seed gardens, the seeds of these plants are harvested and cultivated in nurseries into plants from 'here.' You can recognize these plants by the quality label "plant from here." See http://www.plantvanhier.be
