The oldest pine stock in this forest is from 1915, but most of the trees in this forest, like the ones you see, are about 60 years old. In this forest there are Scots and Corsican pines. The Scots pine has an orangeish trunk in the crown of the tree. The Corsican pine has rather a black trunk. This southern European tree has a beautiful straight high trunk and was therefore planted a lot. Pine wood was originally used for mining wood.
The forest has received an FSC certificate. This is an internationally recognized label that is the result of years of sustainable policy. An FSC quality label on a wood or paper product guarantees that the product comes from responsibly managed forests and/or contributes to the responsible management of our forests. A total of 417 ha of the forest is provided with a certificate.
More than sixty different species of breeding birds such as sparrowhawk, hawk and black and green woodpecker breed and hunt here in the forest. At night, the owl and tawny owl come to life.
