The holiday domain Kosmos was a recreational area that included tennis courts, a soccer field, an outdoor swimming pool, a hotel with a restaurant and banquet halls, and youth pavilions Home Boskant and Home Zeewind.
The hotel was built in 1934 as a youth hotel. The original complex was relatively small. From the 1960s to the 1980s, it was a very well-known place for young people, CM camps, and youth movements. This building was classified as a protected monument in 2004.
Kosmos was mainly known for its outdoor swimming pool from the 1960s. In 2002, the pool's permit was revoked due to storage issues, hygiene concerns, and "not accessible for emergency services."
In the summer of 2009, the Kosmos domain was sold to the Flemish Community. Only the main building of the hotel remains standing because it is a heritage site. The other buildings and the swimming pool were demolished.
