Searching for cooling in Buggenhout Forest on hot days is certainly recommended.
On hot summer days, a city often feels like an oven: concrete, asphalt, and roofs retain heat and slowly release it. In a forest, it's completely different. Trees provide a natural air conditioning system. Their canopies filter sunlight, causing the ground and yourself to warm up less. At the same time, trees evaporate water through their leaves, a process that extracts heat from the air. The result? In a mature forest, it is on average a few degrees cooler than in the open surroundings, and on really hot days, the difference can increase to about 8 to 10 degrees. You can feel this immediately when you walk from a stony street into a shaded path. So, when the weather gets scorching hot, leave the hardened environment behind and head for the forest. Your body – and your mind – will thank you.
