The Gavers is a nature and recreation domain of 179 hectares located in Harelbeke and Deerlijk, in the province of West Flanders near Kortrijk. The centrally located Gavermeer, covering 5 hectares, was created through sand extraction in the 1960s, which was necessary for the construction of the nearby E17 highway. Prior to that, it was a swampy marshland area. The management of the Gavers falls under the provincial administration of West Flanders. With approximately 800,000 visitors per year, it is the most visited provincial domain in this province.
