The American tank standing here on the banks of the Ourthe is a Sherman M4A1. It stands as a tribute to the 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions of the Americans who stopped the German army in December 1944 and liberated La Roche and its surroundings in January 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge.
