Without a doubt the most famous, largest and most romantic castle in the Pajottenland. It was designed by the eccentric Marquise Arconati Visconti and donated to the Belgian state in 1921. Less romantic is the story of resident and count Lamoral van Egmond. His opposition to the Spanish Inquisition was not appreciated: the count was beheaded on the Brussels Grand Place in 1568. The museum garden and the Saint Gertrude Chapel can always be visited.
