On this spot, on a foggy November morning in 1791, the mutilated body of Meuris d'Oneux was found. The court officials who arrived at the scene summoned the surgeon from Durbuy, who determined that the wounds were inflicted by wolves that had come from the nearby Bois de Viné the previous evening and had attacked the unfortunate Meuris on his way home.
To commemorate this, a cross was erected with the following inscription:
IHS - 1791- PRAY FOR - THE FAITHFUL - SOULS OF THE DECEASED.
Around 1980, the cross disappeared (stolen) and a resident of Borlon placed a gravestone in its place with the same text painted on it, which has since become largely illegible.
