Go free with the museum pass to Modemuseum Hasselt. Visit the history of Western fashion from 1750 to today at Modemuseum Hasselt. It is one of the few museums in the Low Countries dedicated exclusively to clothing and fashion. The collection includes around 18,000 clothing items and accessories.
When you mention Hasselt, you mention taste: a love for food and drink, but also an excellent taste in clothing. With a collection of approximately 18,000 clothing items and accessories, Modemuseum Hasselt tells you fascinating stories about Western fashion from 1750 to today. Do not expect a fixed permanent presentation, but two striking exhibitions per year that draw from the own collection or are supplemented with significant loans from home and abroad. The exhibitions address social themes and offer new perspectives on clothing, yourself, and the world. Discover both historical gems from anonymous makers, and iconic pieces from renowned names such as Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent. Belgian designers with Limburg roots and an international appeal, such as Martin Margiela and Raf Simons, also receive special attention. Are you going out with children? Thanks to an active family route and educational activities, the museum connects fashion with your family.
In the atmospheric architectural setting of the former Grauwzusters monastery, the museum continually surprises you with exhibitions that leave you wanting more, such as Wonder Women (2019), SMUK (2019), Activewear (2021), DressUndress (2022), Bags: Inside Out, We Need to Talk about Fashion (2023), and finally, the latest new exhibition M&Others, Fashion & Motherhood (2024).
