If you walk straight ahead from the main entrance to the large burial chapel, you will see the grave of Theofiel Moerenhout to the left of it. Theofiel was a farmer's son from Sint-Ulrikskapelle. He spent four years at the front without contact with his family. After the truce, some family members went looking for him. And they found him! But he was not allowed to go home. Soldiers still had to remain in service to clean up the front area. He left secretly anyway. But in Aalst a checkpoint staggered the way. So Theophile dressed up as a woman in the clothes of his aunt who had come to look for him. In this way he managed to reach Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle which was a happy reunion. But after three days, Theophiel returned to resume his duties on the front lines.
