The geological wall
“Depicting more than 540 million years of history!” That was the task given to the sculptor Paolo Gasparoto. He had the idea to represent a timescale in three dimensions, to draw attention to the rock and the Walloon soil. Near the geological walking path in Comblain-au-Pont and next to the underground quarry “Petit Banc”, his work has been realized. Visitors can climb over a wall 54m long at an angle of 30°. Every meter traveled is a leap of 10 million years back in time! Unique in the world. This work is very interesting in scientific, didactic, and artistic terms, and visitors will never look at the rocks the same way again.
