STEP INTO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF KNIGHT ARTHUR MERGHELYNCK!
During a visit to the castle you can admire the beautiful castle interiors and the beautiful park surroundings. Juicy anecdotes and compelling stories bring the stately castle to life. A hidden gem in the Westhoek that you must discover.
Beauvoorde Castle in Veurne is a unique heritage gem where young and old can experience a lot. At the end of the 19th century, the eccentric nobleman Arthur Merghelynck bought the castle. He had it restored to 17th-century standards, with a beautiful castle park. The castle houses many art treasures, antique objects and beautiful furniture. During a visit you will be immersed in the world of Merghelynck who did everything to relive the Middle Ages.
After the visit, local product lovers can indulge themselves in our heritage and local products shop; organic garden juices from our orchard, pâtés and jams from the region and fun historical gadgets. A sophisticated selection of regional beers is also available.
From the spring of this year, a terrace will be set up at the visitor center where a snack and dry is available. In rainy weather there is room inside. Those who prefer a more sporty approach can play a game of Kubb, Petanque or cricket (included in the entrance fee).
CHILDREN ARE ALSO WELCOME!
Especially for families with children, a fascinating family trail has been mapped out. The children take on the role of the quirky Knight Arthur and join him in discovering building kits, kitchen recipes, coats of arms, classified ads, costumes and the most delicious creations! During the summer months, the castle provides a particularly spicy extra and the children can go on a treasure hunt for the sought-after treasure chest of Vlieg, which is safely tucked away somewhere on the castle site. Are you going to find him?
