Description

The chapel in its present form dates from 1720. Right from the start it has always been a favourite place of pilgrimage for Flemish fisherfolk. Besides the many ex-votos numerous pictures can be found of smacks, often accompanied by names and pictures of the crews and the dates of their shipping disasters. Many candles are burnt in the brick-built cave beside the chapel.

A pilgrimage is held every year on the third Sunday of May.
