The gravel pit at Goed te Beaulieu (an ancient farmhouse that dates back to the Frankish era) is the water body that was created from sand extraction. When the extraction ceased in 1986, the municipality purchased the 5 hectares large area. The pit was fed by groundwater and rainwater and became an interesting pond biotope. The Gravel Pit and Leie banks are an ideal terrain for walkers.
