Alexandre Dechet was killed here in the Holleweg of Boechout on 18 October 1830. He is better known by his pseudonym Jenneval and as the lyricist of the Belgian national anthem. Curiously, he is actually a French who was born in Lyon. Even more remarkable is that he joined the revolutionary armies as a volunteer during the Belgian Revolution. This is how he ended up in the corps of Charles Niellon, also a Frenchman. AND in doing so, he was killed here in a battle against Dutch troops on the Holle Weg.
