The Belle Almshouse Museum exhibits beautiful items from the rich collection of the Ieper Public Social Welfare Centre (OCMW). Make sure you do not miss the painting of the Blessed Virgin surrounded by the donors, Yolenthe Belle, Joos Bryde and their children.
It was painted in 1420 and is therefore one of the oldest paintings in Belgium. In addition to other paintings by old masters the museum houses some remarkable items of furniture like a unique 17th century linen press and the publicly owned ‘tapestry' in Ieper: an altar draping from the 17th century.
