Former Hotel

Lady Maria van Wesele, formerly widow of Willem Ryckewaert, registrar of the city of Brussels, and afterwards remarried to Master Filips Numan, secretary of the same city, sold on 28 April 1614, for the benefit of Jan vanden Sande and Elisabeth Moriaens (a gelege daer a house to stand up pla.ch, groot 3 dwy,...) This emptied was charged with 1 perning Leuvens to the lord and 6 st. 2p. am the church. It should henceforth raise iaarliik 6 Rg. for the benefit of the church in order to maintain the smout in the lamp in honor of it. H. Sakrament. Jan vanden Sande did not stay long in possession of his acquisition, as he ceded them in 1616 to Wouter Bogaerts and Katarina van Heffen. Wouter established in 1618 an interest of 6 g. 5 st. on his homestead for the benefit of Lucas Claes and Katarina Henricx. The Claes children divided their goods in 1685. Anna Claes, wife of Jan de Vis, inherited the house on the Hoogstraat. She passed them on to Frans Reusens and Barbara van Duffel (1688), whose heirs sold them 10 years later am Lambrecht Hernalsteen and Anna Crietemans (1698). Machiel vanden Plasch and Johanna van Paris inherited the deed in 1719, ceding them to their son Peter, married to Margareta Schrij-vers (1751). The children, born out of this marriage, sold the court with half a bunder of land am Jan Huyghe (1782). In 1850-60 it belonged to Judocus-Frans Vloebergh, tenant. The Vloebergh family established a gasthof here, the "Hotel de la Ferme", which at the time enjoyed a great reputation among Brussels Sunday walkers.
