The neoclassical little castle is part of a castle site that was built in 1800. The word 'Raepen' does not refer to the tuber crop, but through a typo to Paepen or monks. The castle is located in the Lake woods. This forest area was formerly owned by the Bruges Ter Duinen Abbey.
