Ornamental plants Devriese-Luyssen

Founded in 1930, in the very beginning as a hobby, there has been an enormous diversity of crops over the years, including grapes and peppers. However, one point has always been important: the love for the profession and the interest in new plants.
Today our main crop is the Laurus nobilis or Flemish laurel. This was started in 1985, and as the laurels grew, the company has also grown with it. In addition, tree nursery crops are also being sought that can be sold in bloom. This results in visually appealing plants, such as the Lagerstroemia.
Here, in addition to the botanical species, cultivars are also tested on our own farm. Meanwhile, collections of Laurus, laurel and Lagerstroemia are compared at the nursery, which were collected through contacts from all over the world with colleagues and arboreta. We always strive for the best possible quality of the plants.

Belgian Plant Collection Laurus and Lagerstroemia
Our company has committed itself to collect, manage and search for knowledge and information in Belgium the collections of Laurus (laurel), Lagerstroemia, Choisya, Hardy Begonia, Ficus.

The aim is to test the species and compare the plant material to lead to correct naming and to gain experience with these plant species in our climate.

The collection and collections that are still growing every year:
- Laurus nobilis, laurel (Flemish Laurel) is already a collection of 40 different (cultivars and species),
- Lagerstroemia already includes more than 150 species of Lagerstroemia (cultivars and species).
