On the map of Ferraris from 1778, this area was marked as wasteland or wild ground. Between 2008 and 2010, 3 hectares of forest were cut down here again. The tree stumps were ground out and the litter layer was removed. The seeds of heather can remain viable for up to 100 years. To maintain the heath, this area is grazed by sheep. The ponds are the ideal habitat for frogs, salamanders, and dragonflies.
