Aarschot: Aurealianus tower
(wiki)
The Aurelian Tower (or Orleans Tower) is one of the few remains of the old city walls around Aarschot, built in the period 1360 - 1365. However, these have been repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt over the centuries. Located on a hill, the tower rises 40 meters above the city on the Demer. A beautiful panorama is a reward for the climb to the 52 meter high summit.
In 1990, the tower, which has been protected since 31 July 1936, was restored. Since then, vandals have kept ugly homes and a new restoration is not an unnecessary luxury.
