In the poplar row along the side stream of the Steenputbeek you will find a dead tree with tinder mushrooms. The name of the fungus refers to "tinder" or "tinder" which is very dry and highly flammable material to make fire. This fungus was used in prehistoric times to make tinder. A flint was used to strike a markasite (stone) and thus ignite the tinder. Often the tinder was also soaked in horse urine and dried, which made it even more flammable.
