The grave of William Redmond, a nationalist politician before WWI, is a special grave: he is one of the few fallen British soldiers who does not lie under the known white tombstone like all other Commonwealth victims.
Major W.H.K. Redmond is buried under a carved cross within a bed delimited by iron sandstone.
The cross bears the following inscriptions: "Major W.H.K. Redmond 6th Batt. Royal Irish Rgt Killed in Action" "7-6-1917", "R.I.P.".
In Loker you can find his grave completely separately, just next to the "Locre Hospice Cemetery". 260 dead are buried in this cemetery, including 14 from WWII.
In Heuvelland you will find about 35 small and larger Commonwealth cemeteries. More information about the Commonwealth cemeteries can be found on the website of the Commonwealth www.cwgc.org.
