The Cross of the Betrothed is a monument on the plateau of the High Fens in Belgium, not far from the Baraque Michel. It is located on the ancient mountain road "La Vêquée" and on the former border between Belgium and Prussia. This cross was inaugurated, in its current state, on Sunday, September 20, 1931 in memory of two young fiancés caught in a snowstorm on January 22, 1871. It is the successor to an older cross, which has been in place since at least 1906.
