The 'Motte van Castelberg' is the hill we see to the north of 'het Vinne'; on this hill stood an elevated wooden defensive fortress in the Middle Ages to see the enemy approaching from a distance. Now, it is mainly used in the winter to slide down the slope with a sled :-). On the flank, we find, among other things, the sickle coral fungus, a cherished neighbor of Zoutleeuw. Other beautiful and special grassland mushrooms can also be found here, such as the parrot mushroom and the snow mushroom.
