Description

For centuries, families of boat pullers lived here in the hamlet of Zennegat. During the 20th century, the hamlet around the Zennegat became more and more a residence for artists, musicians and non-communist figures. For several years now, actress and TV presenter Tine Van den Brande has also been living there. In 2005, jazz and improvisation musician André Goudbeek, who also resides at the Zennegat, made a CD with bandoneon improvisations named after the place. The nonconformist Mechelen draughtsman and painter Frans Croes also lived on the Zennegat until his death in 2011, and also had his studio there. The various dikes that come together here are therefore an attraction for many cyclists on beautiful days.
