The Japanese Garden in Hasselt is the largest of its kind in Europe, the perfect place to fully experience Japanese culture. Originally, a Japanese garden was designed for meditation and reflection, and that is no different in Hasselt. Those seeking peace can find a bench here to listen to the waterfalls, observe and feed the koi fish, picnic, or stroll around and enjoy the changing views. Sometimes you can also hear the peace bell ringing. Since 2016, the peace bell has had a permanent place in the garden. In addition, there are numerous activities every month that are open to the public.
The Japanese garden of Hasselt is located between the city center and the main ring, yet radiates a pleasant tranquility. It is an ideal place to wander around and enjoy the constantly changing views or to simply sit somewhere and listen to the flowing water. Tickets can be purchased at the on-site box office.
