This building (Drapstraat 16) used to be the Civil Almshouse. It was founded in 1878 in a neo-Gothic style. It is a brick building, with side-stepped gables and a hexagonal wooden bell tower under a slate needle spire.
The building has already had numerous functions. At the beginning of the 20th century, it housed a poor girls' and lace-making school. Later, this building was known as the local retirement home.
Currently, the heritage unit is housed in the front part with a workspace for the heritage volunteer, an archive and an exhibition space.
Here, the municipality of Nazareth and the volunteers work to preserve the scattered heritage of the large Scheldt-Leie area and to digitize it. Preserve for future generations in purpose.
At the back there is the War Museum Eleven November and the Local History Museum Scheldeveld.
