* Paradise Nature Reserve in Orp-le-Petit
Paradise Street - 1350 Orp-Jauche
This former chalk quarry was once exploited for the production of cement. A true oasis in a region of large-scale farming, it houses an interesting plant mosaic: reed beds, vegetation of drained ponds, calcicole wasteland, thermophilic edge, etc. Several very rare plant species at the regional level thrive here, such as wild licorice (Astragalus glycyphyllos), Arabian alfalfa (Medicago arabica), basil thyme (Acinos arvensis), and Fuchs' orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii). In terms of fauna, several species of amphibians can be observed here as well as the slowworm (Anguis fragilis). The birdlife is quite diverse. The site is managed by the Natural Conservatory of the Municipality of Orp-Jauche.
