The Fort of Koningshooikt is a fort located in the suburb of Koningshooikt in the municipality of Lier, in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The fort was part of the Antwerp Defensive Position and specifically of the outer ring of forts around the city of Antwerp. The Fort of Koningshooikt was part of the Antwerp Defensive Position. The decision for the Antwerp Defensive Position was made by choosing Antwerp as the National Redoubt in 1859. The idea behind this was that Antwerp was the most suitable as a last resort until the assistance of allies could arrive.
