The Chefna is a tributary of the Amblève. It rises in Ville-au-Bois and flows near Ferme de Quarreux.
In the past, people searched for gold in the river water. On the right bank are the mining pits of a primitive 19th-century gold mine, but today not much of it can be seen. Gold was once found, but it was a small amount. The yield was 0.40 grams of gold per ton of rock. Yet at the end of the 19th century, an operator would have become 'almost' a millionaire.
