Architect Adrien Blomme, also known for the modernist brewery Wiels, designed this residential area in 1924 in 'historicizing' style. Even though you can walk freely because of an easement, the narrow access road, the barrier and the reversed houses suggest a 'gated community'. In 2018, the municipality refused an application to place a more permanent closure. The gabled roofs and the bell tower, the green square, the routes of the streets and the seclusion give a village impression. But it's not a lively village...
With a bit of luck, the gate has been opened that opens at the back of this residential area on the Renbaanlaan. Here you are close to the Buyl tram stop. If the gate is closed, you have to return to your steps and you can turn left via the Lied van Sotternieënlaan to the tram stop Ter Kameren – Ster.
