Description

This avenue is named after an inn called the Snij-af that used to be in the area. It was an inn of a cattle merchant. Jan De Lichte's band of robbers is said to have stayed there regularly. On July 30, 1740, Jan Dossche, the innkeeper, was shot dead with a pistol by Jan de Lichte's gang, at the moment he wanted to drive away a gang of burglars, armed with a fork.
