Here you will find an embankment that forms the border between the arable land and the meadow. That boundary coincides with the boundary between the tertiary hill (Wolfputberg) and the Holocene alluvial lands of the Dender valley. This staircase (embankment) was created by the agricultural activities of man. Because this boundary has been used by farmers for centuries and this coincides with a plot boundary, a graft has arisen here. A graft is a staircase along a valley wall that is caused by the accumulation of material above this boundary and the removal of material below that boundary (= recessive erosion). That boundary is (or was) usually a strip of raw land overgrown with grasses and herbs. As a result, the recessive erosion has less control over this, and a staircase is formed. .
