Description

The Veltwijckpark is the green heart of Ekeren, in which the district house is also located. It was originally a castle domain. The main building in traditional brick and sandstone style, consisting of a U-shaped moated castle from the 16th century, is located within a rectangular park surrounded by moats. It will be connected to the Veltwijcklaan via a cobbled linden avenue. Since 1929, the domain has been owned by Ekeren and the park has been open to the public. Until a few years ago, there was also a football stadium in the domain near the Lindenlei. It has since been demolished and rejoined as an open lawn to the park.
