Description

This beguinage is the oldest in the Kempen. It was founded before 1266 and experienced a great flowering. In 1578 the Calvinists razed it to the ground, after which a new beguinage was built. In 1614 the new Gothic church was already completely finished. This St. Catherine's Church has recently been beautifully restored. The beguinage has two entrance gates: in the Begijnenstraat and in the Burchtstraat.
